The American Institute of Architects
January 1, 2022
I am deeply honored and humbled to assume the role of the 2022-2023 President of the American Institute of Architects – Staten Island Chapter. It is with great excitement and a profound sense of responsibility that I step into this position, and I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all of you for entrusting me with this leadership role.
Staten Island holds a special place in our hearts, and as architects, we have the privilege of shaping the built environment of this vibrant community. Our chapter has a rich history of promoting excellence in architecture, fostering collaboration, advocating for sustainable and innovative design solutions. Building upon these foundations, I would like to share my vision for our chapter during my term as President.
Community Engagement: It is imperative that we continue to engage with our local community. We will work tirelessly to forge strong partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions. Together, we can make Staten Island a better place to live, work, and play through thoughtful design and architecture.
Professional Development: Our chapter will remain committed to providing exceptional opportunities for professional growth. We will organize workshops, seminars, and networking events to ensure that our members stay at the forefront of architectural practice, technology, and sustainability. I will continue to actively pursue pathways for all members to practice knowing the Chapter can aid. We will continue to provide opportunities ranging from retirement strategies to healthcare. I have assigned a duty to myself to maintaining healthy memberships both physical and financially.
Advocacy: We will enthusiastically advocate for the importance of design excellence, and sustainable practices within our profession. It is our duty to advocate for policies and initiatives that promote the well-being of our community and the integrity of our profession.
Inspiration: I encourage all members to share their ideas and projects with the community. Let us inspire one another with our creative visions and encourage the next generation of architects through mentorship and education.
As we embark on this journey together, I invite your active participation and input. Your voices, experiences, and expertise are invaluable, and I am eager to hear your thoughts on how we can best serve our chapter and our community.
I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, and I am confident that, with your support, we will achieve great things. Together, we will continue to elevate the practice of
architecture in Staten Island, leaving a lasting, positive impact on our community.
In conclusion I would like to thank the Executive Committee. Stanley M. Krebushevski AIA, Vice President; Thomas J. Soviero AIA, Secretary; Michael A. Biagioli AIA, Treasurer and Frank Martarella III AIA, Past President; for providing a foundation and structural support in the endeavors. Thank you once again for this incredible honor, and I look forward to working with each and every one of you in the coming years.
Sincerely,
Giuseppe Bonomo, AIA
