Spaghetti Marshmallow Contest SI AIA 2019 Results
On Tuesday November 12, 2019, the American Institute of Architects Staten Island Chapter conducted their annual Spaghetti-Marshmallow Contest. The event is a design competition open to students in grades 2nd through 8th. The rules are very simple…… DESIGN A STRUCTURE USING NOTHING MORE THAN SPAGHETTI & MARSHMALLOWS AND…… TO BE CREATIVE. The main goal is for students to explore their creativity through the world of Architecture. Inspiration can be drawn from any where that the student has interest and there are no limits on the type of structure that can be built. Working as a team is an option open to all participants.
This event received participation by approximately 160 students from various Staten Island schools with submissions from students in 2nd grade through 8th grade. All submissions were judged by members of the American Institute of Architects Staten Island Chapter as well as American Institute of Architects New Jersey members. We traveled the world with the submissions. Below is a list of this 2019’s Winners and attached are photos of some of the submissions.
